History

St. Michael's Lutheran Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America,  is a rural church that was formed by German immigrants on September 29,1859. The congregation was first served  by Rev. Frederick Wilhelm Haas who ministered to the local German-Prussian newcomers. The Prussian influence is still visible in some of the unique features of the worship space, including the style of the steeple. Throughout the years, the people of St. Michael's have served the Hustisford area during good times, as well as during times of economic difficulty, typhoid and dyptheria epidemics, and cultural challenges, proclaiming the good news of Jesus in word and deed. Enriched by our heritage, St. Michael's looks to the future to discover how God will use us to continue to bear the good news of Jesus. St. Michael's has a great tradition of being open, friendly, and welcoming, focusing on the needs and well-being of our neighbors.
